Project Description

Program Economic Empowerment for Women (PEE4W)

A group of women who are small business owners are direct beneficiaries of a weekly $27 soft loans program. These women deal in small businesses such as; hair dressing, old clothes vending, vegetable vending, tailoring, etc. The beneficiaries pay annual membership fee of 10,000 and commit to a weekly repayment plan of $4 until the $27 is recouped on top of which they add $0.53 (2% of the loan) which is accumulated and the group decided what they want to purchase; chicken, turkeys, goats, pigs, etc that ounce the reproduce will be given to members of the group. Summary “$27 is given to a beneficiary and she pays back $27.53 within 7 weeks. The $27 paid back goes to another beneficiary and $0.53 is put into a pool for purchase of animals to be distributed to the members”. And the cycle continues!

Every $27 is given to a woman either to maintain her business or help her start a business that at the end of the day will help her support her family. Therefore with $2700, 100 women can be supported.
